The ultimate Chelsea team player has been named after one moment that happened during Chelsea’s 3-0 win against Aston Villa yesterday.
The Blues cruised past Unai Emery’s Champions League side with absolute ease yesterday. They fully controlled the game and didn’t really get threatened at all by Villa. It was a dominating performance from Enzo Maresca’s side and really, probably the best overall Chelsea performance against a top side for many years.
It will probably be the moment where it makes many of us take a step back, look up and think, Chelsea might actually be back!
They’ve built a solid squad with many players in it, something they were criticised for at the start of the season. But one thing is has done is allow them to have two different teams for league games and cup games, and has increased the quality and competition all over the team.
It’s also very full of team players.
Veiga in action
Chelsea reporter Rahman Osman of London World, noticed something that substitute Renato Veiga did yesterday, making him the ultimate team player.
Osman wrote:
‘One of the best things from the game was how Renato Veiga supported Robert Sánchez. Leading up to the game, much of the focus had been on Sánchez’s form, and during one moment, the goalkeeper was pressed and he kicked the ball out. The atmosphere in the stadium grew edgy, but Veiga made sure to clap for him and give him a thumbs-up to keep going.
‘In the end, Sánchez kept a massive clean sheet, which will do his confidence a world of good. You need teammates who back you up that way. It was so refreshing especially so early on.’
It’s lovely to hear that, Veiga seems like a top guy to have around the camp.
