The Serie A January transfer window is now shut

The deadline for the January transfer window in Serie A has now passed, which means that clubs can no longer register new incoming players until the summer.

There could still be some official announcements over the next few days, as clubs could have submitted the necessary documents before the deadline.

Serie A clubs are still able to sell or loan players out to nations where the transfer window remains open, such as in Turkiye, but the majority of Western European transfer windows have now closed.

Clubs are also still permitted to sign free agents.

Serie A January transfer window closes

It has been a busy month in the January transfer window in Serie A.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia became the most expensive player to move to or from a Serie A club this month, joining Paris Saint-Germain for a fee of €70m.

Santiago Gimenez was announced by Milan on deadline day. At a total cost in excess of €35m, he became the most expensive player to join a Serie A team this window.

Some of the division’s biggest clubs have also made important moves over the last few weeks. Juventus have welcomed four players in Randal Kolo Muani, Alberto Costa, Renato Veiga and Lloyd Kelly, who joined from Newcastle on deadline day.

League leaders Napoli have added Philip Billing to their midfield department, as well as Luis Hasa, Simone Scuffet and the recently-announced Noah Okafor on loan with an option to buy from Milan.

Lazio have brought in Arijon Ibrahimovic, Reda Belahyane and Oliver Provstgaard, the latter two also signing on the final day of the transfer window.

Italy U21 star Cesare Casadei has finally left Chelsea, and is now a Torino player, where he will be joined by Eljif Elmas, Cristiano Biraghi and Amine Salama.
