FLW's Preston North End fan pundit Darren Watson has urged his club to cash in on Brad Potts.

Huddersfield Town have been linked with a move to sign experienced midfielder Brad Potts to their squad, as they look to gain promotion back to the Championship.
The 31-year-old has been at Preston North End since 2019, racking up well over 200 appearances for the club, and establishing himself as a reliable and versatile option for the Lilywhites over his time at the club, more often than not featuring at right wing-back in recent years.
However, Potts has recently started to pick up more niggling injuries, and after going off against Sunderland in March 2025, his 2024-25 season was ended early.
The midfielder is now catching the interest of League One outfit Huddersfield, according to journalist Alan Nixon, in a move that would see him join the promotion hopefuls as an experienced option in Lee Grant's engine room, although it has been reported by the Lancashire Post that Town's approach for him has been snubbed as of now, with Paul Heckingbottom wanting to keep him around.
With his contract expiring next summer and the chance of him turning down a new deal if minutes are hard to come by at Deepdale this season, PNE may be tempted to cash in on the popular player for the right price.
Following the news that Huddersfield are keen to bring Potts to Yorkshire this summer, Football League World spoke to their resident Preston fan pundit, Darren Watson, and asked him if now was the right time for his club to cash in.
Watson told FLW: "I'd be sad to see him go. He's obviously a good player for North End, he's one of my favourite players. Since the time that he's been there, he's always been solid.
"He had a couple of injuries that set him back a couple of times, but always when he's called upon, he's solid.
"I really do love Brad Potts as a player - he's versatile, put him anywhere he wants, and he'll do a job for you.
"He is getting on a bit now, but at the same time, with one year left on his contract, do we look to cash in now?
"I think we should, because I think Heckingbottom is now going for a more fast-paced team with lots of energy, and a young team as well, giving players four-year contracts like he did with [Thierry] Small and [Odel] Offiah.
"I'd be sad to see him go, but I think it's probably the right decision moving forward for Preston North End."
As Darren mentioned, it seems likely that Heckingbottom is looking to utilise a younger squad this season based on the signings made in the summer, which could see the 31-year-old struggle for minutes - despite the fact it's been reported that the club want to keep Potts.
With just a year left on his contract and the chance that Potts turns a new deal down if he isn't playing, this summer could be the right time to cash in on the midfielder after six-and-a-half years of service to the club - if they change their stance of course.
PNE got more than their money's worth after signing Potts from Barnsley for £1.5 million at the start of 2019, and they could be tempted to allow him to leave for a decent fee, rather than getting nothing for him next summer.
