Norwich City earned a big 6-1 victory over Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday night

Callum Doyle believes that Norwich City’s comfortable 6-1 win over Plymouth Argyle can serve as a warning to the rest of the Championship.

The Canaries’ form had dipped in recent weeks, seeing them fall behind their rivals in the race for a play-off place.

But goals from Shane Duffy, Anis Ben Slimane, Ante Crnac and a Borja Sainz hat-trick sealed a huge home victory on Tuesday night.

This win ended a run of seven in a row without victory, and moved Johannes Hoff Thorup’s side back into the top 10 in the table.

The only negative on an otherwise supremely positive evening was the concession of a 39th minute goal from Mustapha Bundu.

Doyle believes that the other teams in the division will notice the Norwich scoreline due to the nature of their dominance over Plymouth.

He has claimed the victory can give them a confidence boost going into a very busy winter schedule in which they will play nine more league games between now and 4 January.

"The fans were buzzing with that one, as the team are as well,” said Doyle, via Pink Un.

"The other teams are going to look at that score now, and it will give us a massive confidence boost.

"It's just what we needed going into the next games with high confidence, and the fans have seen what they saw at the start of the season with the patterns of play, especially for the last two goals; we'll take that into next week.

"It was fun to play and good to see nearly everyone getting on the scoresheet. It's good to see Shane, Anis and Ante scoring good goals.

“It was really good today, and everyone enjoyed it."

Norwich City’s recent form

Prior to the 6-1 thrashing of Plymouth, Norwich had been struggling, failing to win any of their previous seven in the league.

Draws with West Brom, Middlesbrough, Preston North End and Stoke City saw them earn four points in that run, while also suffering defeats at the hands of Bristol City, Sheffield Wednesday and Cardiff City.

Thorup will be hoping this victory is a sign of things to come over the next several weeks, with the club eyeing another top six finish this season.

Up next for the Norfolk outfit is a home clash against Luton Town on 30 November in a 3pm kick-off.

Norwich showed what they can do at their best against Plymouth

Other sides in the Championship will stand up and take notice of a result like Norwich’s 6-1 win over Plymouth.

While their recent form hasn’t been the best, injuries have impacted the side and those now appear to be clearing up.

If they can put a good run together in the coming weeks by continuously playing at this level then they could emerge as a real threat for the play-offs.
