After their 3-1 win over Bournemouth at the Etihad on Tuesday evening, Manchester City now sit third on the Premier League table. Entering the final day of the season Pep Guardiola’s side have their destiny in their own hands in their bid to secure Champions League qualification for next season. But the job isn’t complete just yet. City must pick up at least at point against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday. If they fail to do so it could set the scene for a tense final day of the 24/25 season.

Facing Fulham at Craven Cottage will be no stroll in the park for Manchester City.

Fulham has had a good season this campaign. Entering the final day of the season they sit 10th on the Premier League table. Marco Silva’s side on their day can be quite the handful. They are a team loaded with quality and proven Premier League performers. Players such as Antonee Robinson, Sander Berge, Alex Iwobi, Anders Pereira and Raul Jimenez are quality players on their day. They also have Adama Traore in their ranks who has tormented Manchester City in the past. Under manager Marco Silva they are an organised team and play an attractive brand of football. At Craven Cottage they can be a formidable outfit. That’s the challenge that awaits Pep Guardiola’s side on Sunday.

Manchester City simply must get the job done on Sunday.

Despite the challenge ahead of Manchester City this Sunday, they simply have to get the job done. A point at Craven Cottage will secure Champions League football for next season. With Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa, Chelsea and Newcastle United breathing down their necks Pep Guardiola’s side cannot afford to slip up.

There is the possibility that the final day of this season could be a nervy affair. But if Pep Guardiola’s side are at their best at Craven Cottage they can take the nerves out of the occasion. Since March, it has been apparent that Manchester City would have to earn their spot in next season’s Champions League. It was never going to be given to them. Now they have one more job to do against Fulham on Sunday to complete that goal. It’s a job they simply must complete to get something out of a disappointing 24/25 season.
