Seven games took place on Saturday as the Premier League took centre-stage once more.

Here's how it all went down.

What happened?

João Pedro scored a 95th minute winner to help Brighton beat Manchester United in the early kick off.

Erling Haaland notched his seventh hat-trick in Manchester City colours as his side came from a goal down to thrash Ipswich Town 4-1.

Tottenham got their first win of the season with a 4-0 hammering of Everton, with Son Heung-min grabbing two to send Sean Dyche's side to the bottom of the Premier League.

Across London, goals from Tomáš Souček and Jarrod Bowen ensured Julen Lopetegui got the first win of his West Ham reign against Crystal Palace, who remain without a point this season.

And Emile Smith Rowe's first goal in Fulham colours helped them to a 2-1 win over newly promoted Leicester City.

Morgan Gibbs White scored the only goal as Nottingham Forest edged past Southampton in a low-key affair.

And Arsenal beat Aston Villa in a tense encounter to move into second place in the Premier League and back on the heels of Manchester City.

Player of the day

New season, same old Erling Haaland. The Norwegian may not be involved too much in build up, but continues to be ruthless in front of goal and grabbed himself another hat-trick while maintaining his record of scoring against every Premier League opposition he has faced (23 in total).

He is now just one hat-trick behind Thierry Henry, having played 190 games less.

Stat of the day

Bukayo Saka provided the assist for Arsenal's second goal in their win over Aston Villa, taking him to two assists in two games to go with his goal on the opening day.

He also joined several superstars in the record books, becoming just the fourth player to win 100 Premier League games before the age of 23, having played 171 in total.

He joins Phil Foden, Cesc Fàbregas and Wayne Rooney on the exclusive list, not bad company to keep!

What this means

Manchester City, Arsenal and Brighton all continued their unbeaten starts to the season and now sit clear atop the Premier League table with maximum points.

At the other end, Everton are rooted to the bottom, with their -7 goal difference two worse than newly promoted Ipswich Town in 19th, though the Tractor Boys have now played both Manchester City and Liverpool.

Also in the relegation zone are well-tipped Crystal Palace, with Oliver Glasner's side one of six clubs yet to pick up a Premier League point.

What they said

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag bemoaned his side's late game management as they threw away a point in stoppage time, telling reporters "We have good potential, but we have to keep going until the end. The game is finished when the referee whistles three times. That is what we did not do well [in this game], so we have to improve that game management."

And Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou enjoyed what he saw on new signing Wilson Odobert's Tottenham debut. "Like I said, he's different from our other wingers. He goes at his opponent and, you know, even if he wasn't successful, he went at him again and I think that's exactly why we bought him to the club".

Julen Lopetegui hailed West Ham's resilience as he guided them to the first win of his tenure: "We had to be together to overcome the bad moments. We did and were resilient to compete. We have to highlight this from the players in my opinion, that they are all together and this is one achievement from all of them, the team.

On the flip side, Everton boss Sean Dyche was in the mood for some fighting talk. "We are working within the guidelines that we can. We expect more. We have been written off many times before and we will be written off again. We have come through it before", he told the media.

And after a hard fought win, Mikel Arteta praised his side's in-game problem solving to help them beat Villa.

"We found a way to win, especially because the team played with a lot of personality and understood the game even better. When we made the changes even better it had a massive impact on the team. When the team can evolve like that in the match it becomes a team that can win in all circumstances."

What comes next?

Three games on Sunday round off the second weekend of Premier League fixtures as Chelsea take on Wolves with Enzo Maresca looking for his first win as Blues boss, and Newcastle face Bournemouth. Later, Arne Slot's first home game sees them take on Brentford.
