Several Premier League players are heading towards free agency on June 30, with the contracts of current top-flight names due to expire.
With no extensions agreed upon, the prospect of free transfer moves elsewhere opens up. Trent Alexander-Arnold is perhaps the headline name on the list, though, with the right-back set to sign for Real Madrid, we’ve left him out of this XI.
Here, we put together a best XI of Premier League players out of contract on June 30.
Fraser Forster is one of several experienced goalkeepers set to be available this summer, with the 37-year-old’s three-year spell at Spurs set to come to an end. Forster might be in the twilight of his career but the experienced shot-stopper could still prove a useful option.
Injuries impacted what looks likely to be Kenny Tete’s final season with Fulham. The Dutchman’s deal expires next month and there will be no shortage of clubs interested.
At 29, Tete has plenty in the tank and Fenerbahce have been named as admirers. If he can get back to his 2022/23 levels, in which he ranked in the Premier League’s top 10 players for crosses, tackles won and interceptions, Tete will be a steal.
There’s a rebuild anticipated at Manchester United and Victor Lindelof’s time with the club will end this summer.
The Swedish centre-back has been with the Red Devils since 2017, making 284 appearances. He will turn 31 in the summer but could be a shrewd signing for any club searching for defensive depth on a budget.
Kurt Zouma’s contract at West Ham expires this summer as the Frenchman heads into free agency. The 30-year-old spent last season on loan in the Saudi Pro League, where injuries blighted his time. A fresh challenge is needed for the 11-cap France international.
Ben Davies is set to leave Spurs after over a decade in North London. The 32-year-old’s last season with the club ended with Europa League success, perhaps the perfect note on which to sign off. Davies offers versatility at left-back and centre-back alongside a wealth of experience. He’s closing in on 100 caps for Wales.
Mikel Arteta has made clear his desire to keep Thomas Partey at Arsenal but no new deal has been agreed. With Martin Zubimendi expected to join Arsenal, Partey could move on in search of a guaranteed first-choice role.
The 31-year-old made 51 appearances for Arsenal in 2024/25, the most in a single season in his career.
Kevin De Bruyne’s glittering career at Manchester City is over, with the Belgian departing after a decade at the Etihad. Arguably the club’s greatest-ever player, there was some surprise when De Bruyne’s deal was not extended.
City have chosen to move in a new direction but the 33-year-old is keen to stay at the top level. Italian champions Napoli are nearing an agreement.
Christian Eriksen scored on his Manchester United farewell last weekend, concluding his three years at Old Trafford with a penalty against Aston Villa. The 33-year-old Dane has been a bit-part player at Old Trafford but boasts real pedigree. Only 11 players have managed more assists than Eriksen (78) in Premier League history.
Leicester lose a legend this summer as Jamie Vardy departs the King Power Stadium. After 13 unforgettable seasons, Vardy will take on a new challenge following the Foxes’ relegation. Despite turning 38 in January, Vardy proved he’s still capable at the top level with nine Premier League goals in 2024/25.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin spearheads our XI after failing to agree a new contract with Everton.
Calvert-Lewin has been Everton’s main man at centre-forward in recent seasons, but injuries and inconsistency have plagued his time at Goodison Park.
The 28-year-old has scored 57 goals in 239 league appearances for the Toffees and could be a tempting gamble for Premier League sides.
Callum Wilson waved goodbye to Newcastle on the final weekend, with the forward emotional at full-time against Everton.
Wilson was a key part of Newcastle’s rise from top-flight strugglers to Champions League qualifiers, scoring 47 goals in 110 league appearances for the Magpies. Another impacted by injuries, the 33-year-old will hope for improved fortunes at his next stop.
