Football League World has highlighted the players who could depart Coventry City following the 2025/26 campaign.
The 2025 summer window may still be in full effect, but clubs up and down the Football League will already be planning 12 months in advance.
Given how vital contract length is when it comes to transfer dealings, recruitment teams will be constantly assessing the terms their current players are on as well as those at other sides.
Running down your deal can be a creative way for players to force an exit from their current employers or bargain for a huge pay rise to remain at the club.
Coventry City have added Kaine Kesler-Hayden, Miguel Brau and Carl Rushworth to their ranks this summer, whilst focusing on keeping the likes of Milan van Ewijk and Bobby Thomas at the CBS Arena.
Looking ahead to 2026, Football League World has taken a look at the Sky Blues players that are currently set to leave the club following the 2025/26 campaign’s culmination, as per Transfermarkt.
Ben Sheaf joined Coventry City on loan from Arsenal in 2020 and made the move permanent 12 months later.
The holding midfielder has gone on to feature over 170 times for the Sky Blues, featuring extensively in both of the club’s play-off campaigns in 2023 and 2025.
He has been linked to Ipswich Town in the past but talk over a potential exit from the CBS Arena this summer has been quiet.
Sheaf came on as a substitute in Coventry’s opening day stalemate against Hull City but suffered a groin injury after just seven minutes on the pitch and was subsequently withdrawn.
Frank Lampard seems to favour a midfield pivot of Victor Torp and Matt Grimes, which makes it hard to see where Sheaf will slot into the Sky Blues’ starting XI once he has returned to full fitness.
Therefore, it will be interesting to see how his contract situation develops as the season progresses, with his current deal set to expire next summer.
Brad Collins was brought to the CBS Arena in the summer of 2023 and took over from Ben Wilson as the club’s No.1 goalkeeper.
The shot-stopper enjoyed great success during his first campaign with the Sky Blues, saving a penalty from Casemiro at Wembley during Coventry’s heartbreaking defeat against Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-finals.
However, since the arrival of Oliver Dovin in 2024, it became clear that he was no longer the ideal candidate to be the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.
Coupled with the addition of Carl Rushworth on loan from Brighton, it's hard to see where Collins’ future lies under Lampard’s rule.
Therefore, it would be unlikely to see his deal get extended past its current expiration date of summer 2026.
Jamie Allen triggered a one-year extension to his Coventry contract last term, which means that, as things stand, he will depart the club next summer.
The 30-year-old featured extensively under Lampard during the second half of the 2024/25 campaign, following Ben Sheaf’s injury.
This led to calls from supporters to extend his six-year stay with the Sky Blues, which was ultimately granted.
Allen played in Coventry’s 1-0 triumph over Luton Town in the EFL Cup but looks to be a certified squad player when it comes to the Championship.
The midfielder may be called into regular action more as the season rolls on, but it seems unlikely that he will be handed another contract at the CBS Arena post-2026.
