We take a look at which free agents Swansea City should be looking to sign this month

While the transfer window may have closed over a month ago, clubs can still add to their squad via signing free agents, and Swansea City will no doubt be keeping tabs on who's available over the coming weeks.

The Swans have signed a free agent already this season, bringing former Rangers goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin to the club over the summer, and it gives them the chance to strengthen their squad without breaking the bank.

Swansea brought Yannick Bolasie to the club last season on a short-term deal when he was out of contract, and Luke Williams admitted recently that the free agent market was something the club was exploring.

Williams told Wales Online: "We have one or two players who we are aware of and are in contact with some agents and things like that.

"But there is nothing any more serious than that at the minute. We are definitely open to it, because it is potentially a great option for us."

This shows that signing free agents is a realistic option for Swansea in the coming weeks, and with that in mind, here are 3 they should consider moving for.

Tyler Blackett

It must be stressed that signing free agents is usually a short-term solution rather than a long-term fix, and given Swansea's financial position compared to some of their Championship rivals, it's unrealistic to expect any big names.

Tyler Blackett is a free agent after leaving Rotherham United in the summer, and as a player with a wealth of Championship experience, he should be someone on Swansea's radar.

The Swans only have one senior left-back on their books at the moment in the form of Josh Tymon, and when he was ruled out for their recent fixture against Norwich City, veteran Kyle Naughton filled in there out of position.

Kristian Pedersen is currently out injured, while Nathan Tjoe-A-On doesn't seem to feature in the club's plans going forward, so there would be scope to bring in a left-back.

While Naughton is still capable of doing a fantastic job out of position, Blackett, who has 153 Championship games under his belt, would be a decent option as cover for Tymon, and would bring plenty of experience to Williams' young squad.

Ovie Ejaria

Former Reading man Ovie Ejaria has been a free agent since December 2023, and he was linked with moves to Championship clubs Sheffield Wednesday and Plymouth previously, but nothing materialised.

The 26-year-old hasn't played since November 2022, so signing him would definitely be a punt, but he's shown in the past that he's a good player at Championship level, and you don't play for the likes of Liverpool and Rangers without having something about you.

Ejaria is versatile, but his preferred position is out wide, and Swansea could do with a wide player with Championship experience.

They currently have the likes of Jisung Eom and Ronald as their starting wide players, and while they're talented, they lack Championship experience and are still raw, so someone like Ejaria could be a decent addition if Swansea could get him fit and firing.

Swansea also have summer signing Florian Bianchini on their books, but he's struggled for playing time so far, and it remains to be seen if he's someone who could be trusted to play regularly at Championship level.

Kemar Roofe

Perhaps Swansea's biggest position of need, if they were going to sign a free agent, then it would certainly be a striker, with just Liam Cullen and Zan Vipotnik as their options up front.

Cullen has made a decent start to the season but Vipotnik is still getting up to speed in the Championship, and, when Cullen has been unavailable, the Slovenian international has been replaced by midfielders Ollie Cooper and Myles Peart-Harris, showing their lack of depth.

Roofe is vastly-experienced both in English football and abroad, thanks to spells with the likes of Oxford United and Leeds United, prior to playing for Anderlecht and Rangers.

It remains to be seen whether a return to England would appeal to the 31-year-old following his Ibrox exit, but at this stage of the season without a club, he'd certainly be worth a punt by Swansea.

Roofe showed with Leeds that he's a proven Championship goalscorer, and he's certainly someone a club needing a striker in the Championship should be watching closely.
