The Swans ended the 2023/24 season in good form, losing just one of their final five games, and will be looking to compete for a play-off spot next season.

2024/25 will be Luke Williams' first full season in charge at the Swansea.com Stadium, and the 42-year-old head coach is looking to the transfer market to build around the nucleus of a strong Swansea squad.

One of the areas that he will be looking to address as a matter of urgency is the goalkeeper position, with last season's number one Carl Rushworth returning to his parent club Brighton.

The 22-year-old shotstopper played every single minute of Swansea's Championship campaign last season, and the club would like him back on another loan for next year.

If that isn't a possibility, however, with Ipswich Town keen on the Seagulls man, the South Wales side have also set their sights on a far more experienced presence between the sticks.

Reporting via his Patreon, journalist Alan Nixon has revealed that Swansea are leading the chase for Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Lee Nicholls.

Nixon reaffirms that the Swans desire a new goalkeeper this summer, and are aware that newly promoted Premier League side Ipswich Town are taking a keen interest in their former loan star Rushworth.

Nixon's report states that Nicholls is available for a transfer this summer following the Terriers' relegation to League One, and Swansea would be very much interested in bringing him to the football club should the two sides arrange a fee.

He also reports that Huddersfield would like a sizeable sum for their experienced goalkeeper, whilst revealing that Swansea's offer is expected to be lower than what Town will deem as an acceptable figure.

Lee Nicholls would be smart Swansea City addition

Swansea City are a club that pride themselves on completing smart business when it comes to the transfer window, ensuring they do their best to get value for their money with every deal they complete.

Nathan Wood, Josh Tymon, Harry Darling, Flynn Downes and Joel Piroe are all excellent examples of the good work the club have been able to do in recent times, finding quality additions for minimal fees.

The arrival of Nicholls from Huddersfield Town would be another signing that would also fall into that category, as the 31-year-old has consistently proven he's a solid Championship option.

Nicholls has enjoyed an impressive three seasons with the Terriers, consistently being one of their better and more reliable performers week-to-week, season-to-season.

And so Swansea fans shouldn't be alarmed that the Englishman perhaps had his least impressive of his three seasons as a Town player last year, as in a campaign when a central defender was the club's top scorer (Michal Helik - 9), Huddersfield often found themselves behind the eight ball in games.

Therefore, should they miss out on the opportunity to bring back Rushworth this summer, Nicholls should be viewed as a solid consolation prize, and would provide Swans with a safe pair of hands next season.
