Former Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi could make a surprise move to the Premier League this summer. The 30-year-old swapped Glasgow for French side Rennes in January in a multi-million deal that also resulted in Jota moving back to Celtic.
According to Le Parisien via Get Football News Now, Rennes are ready to cut their losses on the player, who is yet to score for the club with Bournemouth interested in the player.
Furuhashi was a target for Jorge Sampaoli, before he was dismissed for his role. However, his incredible goalscoring form has not put off Andoni Iraola, who looks to build on another impressive season with the south coast side. This move could result in a link up with former Celtic teammate Ryan Christie, who has been thriving with The Cherries since departing at the end of the summer in 2021. Kyogo and Christie made 6 appearances together and had 2 joint goal participations with the Scottish midfielder laying on two assists for the striker.
It is fair to say that Kyogo has not enjoyed his move to France and his limited game time suggest that he will make a move this summer. The Japanese forward made the move to try to break into the Japan FA first team; however, Hajime Moriyasu decided against calling the striker up for the forthcoming fixtures that were intended to spread opportunities around peripheral players, who will look to make up the World Cup squad next summer.
Celtic were expected to turn their attention to Kvistgaarden in an effort to replace Kyogo after he left for Rennes. The 23-year-old appeared to say his goodbyes to Brondby’s fans at the weekend ahead of a reported summer move worth £10m. Celtic are expected to make a move for the player, who they have courted for the last two seasons, but face interest from other teams.
