Day four of the SuperCupNI saw Manchester United’s academy lift one trophy and qualify for another final.
It was the final day for the girls competition while the boys took part in the semi-finals.
After topping their group, United’s u16s boys took on County Down in the semi-finals.
They had to do it without their captain Bassirou Nkoto though, as the youngster sported crutches on the sideline.
United controlled possession throughout the first half but found it tough to break down a resolute County Down side.
Early into the second half, Douka Nkoto threaded the ball through the eye of a needle to put Manu Ziro through on goal.
Ziro then calmly rounded the keeper before side footing into an open net to give United a 1-0 lead.
County Down chased an equaliser until the final whistle in what was a physical battle but United held onto the victory to advance to the SuperCupNI final.
The young reds will take on Southampton for the cup on Friday night.
Blowing away the competition with three wins out of three in the group stage, United’s u14s girls took on Surf Select in the finals.
The American visitors were the first club to give United a challenge, hitting the crossbar early on.
But a beautiful long range strike from Eva Bold was out of the keeper’s reach to give United the breakthrough.
A second goal sealed the win and saw the young reds swarm together in jubilation as they lifted the trophy.
United’s u16s girls took on Aston Villa in a third place play-off on their final day.
A 2-0 victory earned United third place to finish out the week with three wins out of four, only narrowly losing to the eventual tournament winners Shamrock Rovers on the opening day.
