Sunderland sign Paraguay international from Getafe | OneFootball

Sunderland have completed the signing of defender Omar Alderete from La Liga side Getafe CF, subject to international clearance.

The Paraguay international joins for an undisclosed fee and has penned a four-year deal at the Stadium of Light.

Alderete, 28, brings a wealth of European and international experience, having made 99 appearances for Getafe over the past four seasons, including 36 last term. He has also represented FC Basel, Hertha BSC, and Valencia CF since moving to Europe in 2019, following spells in Paraguay and Argentina.

Speaking after the move, Alderete said: “I’m really happy to sign for this great team. The Premier League is a big challenge for me and I’m ready to give my all on the pitch. I know Sunderland is a historic club, and I was excited from the moment I heard about the opportunity.”
