‘Stop pestering our players’ – Barcelona’s message to Nico Williams before transfer collapse | OneFootball

An insight into the details of a stern message sent the way of Athletic Club star Nico Williams by the board at La Liga rivals Barcelona earlier this month has been forthcoming online.

Wide-man Nico, of course, has emerged as public enemy no.1 at Barcelona over recent days.

This comes after the 22-year-old, for the second summer in succession, made the call to reject a transfer approach from Barcelona.

After the parties had gone as far as to reach an agreement on the terms of a contract, Nico instead opted to commit to a new long-term deal with Athletic Club.

Even prior to as much, though, the Barcelona hierarchy were beginning to become fed up with the winger’s behaviour and indecision.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have on Monday revealed the details of a message sent the way of Nico and his entourage by the Blaugrana last week:

‘Barça, fed up with the impasse caused by neither party wanting to budge, and also knowing that  Nico was in a hurry, approached his agent and told him to talk to the player and stop pestering his friends at Barça. They told him to make a decision.’

Nico’s decision was ultimately to stay put in Bilbao, with the rest, as they say, now history…
