“Still be competing for the league” – John Obi Mikel goes in on Chelsea striker issues again | OneFootball

Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has once again gone in on what he sees as a big striker problem at Chelsea right now.

Mikel is always full of passion and will deliver his views exactly as he feels. Some people might find him a bit too much, but others will resonate often with what he is saying.

He has consistently been asking Chelsea to sign a new striker and clearly does not overly rate Nicolas Jackson, and he has once again gone in on Jackson and Chelsea’s lack of striker.

To be honest, I fully agree as well. I think Jackson has been decent at Chelsea but he needs solid competition, and Chelsea need to sign a different profile as well. We need a different option as well as Jackson.

Mikel believes that Jackson is just not scoring enough goals as well, as he has spoken about in his latest Podcast this week.

Mikel says:

“He (Jackson) is not scoring enough, he puts himself in the right positions and then isn’t finishing, he doesn’t score enough. He’s not a striker who’s going to get us top 4 or win us titles, he’s not that striker, I don’t think he can get us over the line, he’s good on the ball and link up but he’s not scoring enough.

“If we had Victor Osimhen or the guy from Sporting, Gyokeres, we’d still be competing for the league. Maresca needs to talk to Jackson and get his confidence back, he’s not scoring enough. Start scoring and tell me to shut up again!

“Roman Abramovich explained to Drogba “you are the man, but injuries might come, dip of form, what are we going to do then?” Nicolas should not be angry I’m saying this, it’s for the betterment of the team and club.

“Roman every year brings in another top striker, we had Anelka come in to help Drogba, Torres, Shevchenko.
