Stephen Welsh completes loan move to Premiership side

Motherwell have confirmed the signing of Stephen Welsh from Celtic. The Scottish central defender has slipped down the pecking order at Celtic Park with injuries really hampering his first team prospects.

Now, The ‘Well have offered Welsh the opportunity to play regularly in the Premiership with a loan deal until the end of the season.

Upon Brendan’s return to the club in the summer of 2023, Welsh emerged back into the first team picture and looked to bolt himself on as one of the four central defenders. A new deal was signed then, which means he’s got two years left at the club as of this summer. However, an injury in training back in August 2023 resulted in a spell on the sidelines. That has been a feature for Welsh in recent seasons and hopefully he can build up a head of steam at Motherwell.
