Although there has been no Spurs game for a while due to the international break, and then the FA Cup quarter final weekend, there has still been plenty for us to write about during this gap between games - mostly transfer rumours.
However, as per the source, they are not alone in their interest of the midfielder, with the club set to "potentially face a battle" with Champions League hopefuls and fellow Premier League side Nottingham Forest.
Imagine saying a few years ago that Spurs and Forest would be both interested in a player, and the "Champions League hopefuls" of the two sides were Forest. That could be something that sways the player, given he will always have European football over at Fenerbahce.
So far this season, Szymanski has scored three goals, provided five assists, and created nine big chances in the Trendyol Super Lig. He scored two goals and provided three assists in the Europa League too, with the Turkish side now out of the competition.
In terms of his international career, he has represented Poland 43 times during his career so far, scoring five times. He played twice at the World Cup in Qatar in 2022, as well as another two times during the European Championships in Germany last summer.
A dynamic player, Szymanski is capable of playing as both a central midfielder or as a number ten, and has played in both rules numerous times for Fenerbahce this season, under the management of former Spurs head coach Jose Mourinho.
As it stands, the Poland international has two years remaining on his current contract with the Turkish giants. Given that and the discrepancy between the leagues, you would imagine any fee would be affordable though you never know with the Spurs board.
Admittedly, at least on paper, this doesn't leap off the page as an exciting signing, but one thing to consider is there has been a lot of criticism from the fanbase recently about signing too many kids. Szymanski is 25 - 26 this year - and has plenty of experience both at club and international level. He will have played in some incredibly intense atmospheres during his career so far, which could make him mentally tougher than some of those in the current Spurs squad.
