Sporting close to signing Gyökeres replacement

Sporting CP are close to signing Colombian striker Luis Suárez which could finally pave the way for the departure of Viktor Gyökeres.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that the Portuguese side are closing in on an agreement with the 27-year-old who scored 31 goals and assisted a further eight over 43 appearances for second tier Almería last season.

Suárez, who was previously on the books at Watford had previously been touted by the Portuguese press as the club's replacement for Gyökeres.

Should the deal for the player be completed then it will likely help ease the player's exit to Arsenal although the two clubs are yet to agree on a price.
