Paris Saint-Germain have recently secured a berth in the Champions League Round of 16 stage, thanks to a resounding victory over Brest.

Over two legs, PSG secured a 10-0 aggregate victory over Brest, with the final scoreline of the second leg at Parc des Princes last night ending 7-0 in favour of the Parisien.

Following the resounding win over Brest, PSG coach Luis Enrique was asked about the prospect of facing either Liverpool or Barcelona in the next round.

Luis Enrique chooses between Barça and Liverpool

When asked about whether or not he would favour facing any team between Barcelona and Liverpool, Enrique remained coy despite revealing that he does indeed have a preference.

“Barça or Liverpool in the Round of 16? We are ready for both options. I have my preference, but I will not give it,” he said (h/t Diario AS).

Enrique was asked the same question even before PSG’s tie with Brest in the knockout playoffs. In that particular interaction, the Spaniard admitted he doesn’t want to play against Barça.

Given Enrique’s history with Barcelona, though, one would expect the Spaniard to anticipate a match-up against his former employers in the Round of 16 stage.

Enrique, though, does have a poor record against Barcelona as a manager. In the last four meetings against the Catalans, Enrique’s team has been able to win only once.

The three other matches have ended in defeats for Enrique’s men, though the most recent matchup between the two sides have ended in a win for Enrique’s PSG – a 4-1 win last season against Xavi’s men.

However, facing a Barcelona side under Hansi Flick could be an entirely different ballgame for PSG.

Barcelona, for their part, would love to get another swipe at PSG, this time reinforced by a team rejuvenated by the presence of Flick on the touchline.
