FC Barcelona returned to the 1:1 status earlier this month, which should give them more freedom to conduct transfer business going forward. It should also help them stay competitive in the transfer market in the coming seasons.
Barcelona doesn’t necessarily need to sign many players from outside the club. La Masia continues to function as a never-ending conveyor belt of young talent, and the club only looks outward to address positions where they lack depth or quality.
Now, as per Fichajes, Barcelona have set their sights on three young Spaniards as strategic options for the upcoming transfer windows. This doesn’t necessarily mean they are transfer targets but just options that they could look at.
The first one and easily the one that generates the most interest is Nico Williams. Having been a part of a long-drawn saga that involved Barcelona back in the summer, it looks like the club still retains interest in the talented youngster.
The second name on the list is Dean Huijsen, who has been tearing it up in the Premier League. At the tender age of 19, playing in one of the toughest leagues in Europe, the Bournemouth defender has looked unfazed. Pau Cubarsi and Huijsen are likely to be Spain’s long-term defensive partnership. Could they be Barcelona’s too?
The third name on the list is Samu Aghehowa, the Spanish striker who moved from Atletico Madrid to FC Porto and has been tearing it up in the Portuguese league. The 20-year-old is a natural goal scorer who could be an elite striker in the future.
Among the three, it’s safe to say that Huijsen isn’t someone Barcelona truly needs, given the depth they already possess in central defense. Strengthening that position is not something Deco needs to prioritize at the moment.
However, it must be said that both Nico and Samu would reinforce the squad in attack if they were to arrive at the right price. They are good options to look at, keeping in mind the present and the future and let’s wait and see how it plays out.
