Matias Soule scored the only goal of the game from a free-kick right on the edge of the penalty area in an eventual 1-0 victory over Parma in Serie A on Sunday, but he has revealed that some of his teammates did not initially want him to take the set-piece.
Soule earned and converted the free-kick that won Roma an important three points on the road against Parma.
The young Argentine was tripped by Giovanni Leoni on his way into the area, which was originally given as a penalty and a yellow card, before a VAR check, which resulted in a free-kick and a red card being awarded instead.
Soule dusted himself down and stepped up to take, and managed to bend his free-kick up and over the wall from just 18 yards out.

Speaking after full-time, Soule admitted that both Leandro Paredes and Gianluca Mancini had told him not to shoot from the set-piece, but the youngster was confident having scored from a similar position against Cagliari while on loan with Frosinone last season.
“When we were stood there with Leandro and with Mancio, they didn’t want me to shoot. I told them ‘leave me alone, I scored from the same position last year, leave me.’”
