Riccardo Sottil’s father Andrea has spoken out about some of the difficulties his son has had so far at AC Milan, and admits a permanent move isn’t certain.
Sottil’s move to Milan was one of the most surprising last-minute moves of the winter transfer window, one that came about because of Noah Okafor’s switch to Napoli.
In truth, the winger has not featured much since his arrival with Sergio Conceicao clearly having him behind Rafael Leao, Joao Felix, Christian Pulisic and even Samuel Chukwueze in the pecking order.
On Saturday, the rather strange scenario will take place whereby Sottil will aim to beat his parent club and severely dent their push for a Champions League spot, despite the fact he might return there in a few weeks.
His father Andrea Sottil spoke to Radio Bruno about the upcoming clash at the weekend and also what the future holds for his son, with his comments relayed by Calciomercato.com.
What will Saturday’s game mean?
“I think that for Riccardo these will be important emotions, he arrived in Florence when he was 16… then this important opportunity came along that we seized, but it will certainly be an intense moment.”
How is it going at Milan?
“We were aware, Riccardo was aware that it would be difficult to play, but he can only improve by training in silence and every day with top-level players, breathing the air of Milanello.”
Could his move be made permanent?
“We are thinking about it, Riccardo is very calm and determined to show his value, I liked him in the moments in which he was used.”
