AC Milan Primavera won their first game of the 2024/25 UEFA Youth League this afternoon, and the game certainly was not straightforward.
After the weekend’s 2-0 loss to Lecce, an instant bounce-back was needed, and there are few times better to do so than in European competition – something which hopefully the senior team take note of ahead of this evening’s clash.
It seemed that the game was going to follow the weekend’s action, though, as Slovan took the lead before the half-hour mark. Nevertheless, the Young Rossoneri got themselves back into the game on the stroke of halftime with a goal from Mattia Liberali.
15 minutes after the interval, the visitors would go on to take the lead, through Filippo Scotti. A delicious free-kick fell into the path of the youngster, and he backheeled home beautifully.
Just 10 minutes from time, the Diavolo seemingly wrapped things up with Adam Bakoune finishing off a Scotti counter-attack, and it is very fair to say that the goal was deserved as Milan had continuously gone forward since taking the lead.
It is never simple in Rossoneri, though. Slovan instantly replied to make the game 3-2, but with the young squad having a man advantage they were able to get over the line with a win.
Three points is all that matters, and the Diavolo will be happy to see themselves with a first win in the competition.
