After failing in their attempts to sign Luis Diaz, Barcelona are now prepared to go ‘all-in’ for Marcus Rashford.
Indeed, the La Liga champions have been made to go back to the drawing board over the last week and reassess their winger search. They were thought to be on the cusp of signing Nico Williams from his boyhood club Athletic Bilbao until he put pen to paper on a 10-year contract extension, whilst they also saw a bid rebuffed by Liverpool for Diaz, who is now being targeted by Bayern Munich.
It’s led to the Barcelona board making Rashford their ‘priority’, as per Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg.

There’s certainly the opportunity for a deal to be agreed, too, given his ongoing exile at Manchester United.
The 27-year-old, who was hailed as an ‘unstoppable’ talent by ex-manager Erik ten Hag – has not played for the side since December after his relationship with Ruben Amorim broke down.
He subsequently departed Old Trafford in January to join Aston Villa on loan, where he enjoyed an improved run of form, but both he and the Midlands outfit decided against making his switch permanent upon the culmination of his temporary spell.
He has had his sights set on a Barcelona move ever since it became clear he had no future at United, so much so that Rashford’s agent held talks with Sporting Director Deco both in the winter and at the start of the summer window. As of yet, however, there has been no formal offer submitted.
The fact that the Blaugrana have been tabling proposals for their other targets shows they have the funds available to sign the Carrington graduate via an upfront fee, as opposed to any loan with an option or obligation to buy.
United will ask for £40 million to sanction the sale of their homegrown talent, who’s poised to pull the curtains on his 20-year association with the team.
