Inter Milan midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan has not suffered a serious muscle injury.
The Nerazzurri confirm that the 35-year-old underwent medical tests today. These did not show any injuries, and only a slight elongation of his left adductor muscles.
Midfielder Mkhitaryan was absent from Inter’s squad for yesterday’s Serie A clash with Venezia.
The Armenian had pulled out of training a couple days prior to the match.
The reason for this was a muscle problem that Mkhitaryan was dealing with after the Supercoppa Italia.
That was bad news for Inter, particularly since they were already missing Hakan Calhanoglu in midfield.
Mkhitaryan underwent tests today with the Inter medical staff.
Naturally, the Nerazzurri will have been hoping to see the former Manchester United, Arsenal, and Roma midfielder avoid any serious muscle injuries.
A strain could very well see Mkhitaryan miss several more matches. Even a couple weeks on the sidelines would be enough in such a busy period.
However, the club confirm, the tests showed only a “slight elongation” of the adductor muscles in Mkhitaryan’s left thigh.
Therefore, the Armenian should likely be able to return relatively soon.
However, Mkhitaryan will nevertheless miss next Wednesday’s Serie A clash with Bologna.
