An altogether encouraging update on the wellbeing of Barcelona star Marc-André ter Stegen has this weekend come to the fore online.
Goalkeeper Ter Stegen has for his part of course been sidelined since all the way back in September of last year.
This comes after the German suffered a ruptured patella tendon in his right knee, during Barcelona’s 5-1 La Liga victory over Villarreal.
Ter Stegen has spent the months since in steady recovery, with a view, initially, to being fit and available for selection for the start of next season.
If the latest word stemming from Catalunya’s capital is anything to go by, however, then the 32-year-old’s comeback could yet be pencilled in for much earlier.
As per a report from Diario Sport, Ter Stegen’s recovery is progressing ‘much more positively than expected’.
So much so that the shot-stopper himself has informed the Barcelona coaching staff to be prepared for his return to fitness as soon as this coming May:
‘Sources familiar with the situation of the German goalkeeper explain that Marc-André has already ‘warned’ the coaching staff to count on him for the month of May, when the last five league games will be played and also the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals and the final.’
