Former Corinthians left-back Sidcley has joined Ratchaburi FC in Thailand, according to Globo. The 32-year-old defender, who once caught the eye in Brazil with Athletico Paranaense and had two spells at Corinthians, most recently played for Botafogo PB in Serie C before making the move to Southeast Asia.
Sidcley’s career has been marked by several international stints in recent years, but it was his impact at Athletico Paranaense during the 2017 Brasileirão — scoring six goals and providing five assists from the left flank — that first propelled him into the spotlight. That breakout season led to a loan transfer to Corinthians in 2018. Although his time at Parque São Jorge was brief, he did enough to earn a permanent move to Dynamo Kyiv in Ukraine soon after.
He would return to Corinthians on loan again in 2020, but the second spell was less successful. Sidcley found himself sidelined before the loan ended and returned to Dynamo Kyiv with limited playing opportunities. Later, he experienced short spells with CSKA 1948 in Bulgaria and PAOK in Greece, and had further stints in Brazil with Cuiabá, Amazonas, and most recently Botafogo PB, prior to leaving last month.
Ratchaburi FC, Sidcley’s new club, is a former winner of the Thai FA Cup but has yet to claim a league title. The club finished fourth in the latest Thai top-flight season, ending up 18 points behind champions Buriram United.
Sidcley’s departure underlines Corinthians’ longer-term rebuilding theme. His time at the club was always one of temporary solutions and short-term depth, reflective of a previous approach to transfer business. Meanwhile, Corinthians are facing their own period of transition, with both backroom and frontline changes as they prepare for a crucial run of domestic fixtures. As Sidcley moves on to new challenges overseas, Corinthians turn to a different mix of youth and experienced signings as they try to reshape their squad under Dorival Júnior’s guidance.
