Manchester United captain Maya Le Tissier lauded Hinata Miyazawa after her sensational performance in the side’s 3-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday.
Miyazawa grabbed United’s second of the match after Ella Toone had given them the lead just two minutes in.
Celin Bizet also found the score sheet in the second half to ensure all three points were secured at Leigh Sports Village – a result that sent United to second place in the WSL table.
Beyond her strike, Miyazawa was brilliant in the middle of the park, from where she pulled the strings.
After the final whistle, Le Tissier spoke to Sky Sports and had nothing but praise for the Japan international.
The United skipper said, “It was a very good team performance from the first whistle all the way to the end and we have Hiny [Miyazawa] in midfield working her magic. She’s a fantastic player and a fantastic person and we’re very happy to have her on our team.”
“She’s magic. She’s like a mini Modric. She’s the nicest girl and I think a lot of her work on the ball and off the ball goes unnoticed and she’s had to work hard to get into the team. Now she’s cemented her spot and she’s one of our best players every week. What a great player she is.”
Le Tissier added, “She’s worked very hard to get into this team and I think that’s the team spirit of the team. We look after her, we look after every single player in the squad, whether they come off the bench or they stay on the bench.”
On United’s prospects this season, Le Tissier remarked, “We want to have a good time while playing. I think we’ve got such a special group. Off the pitch and on the pitch we got on so well and I think it shows togetherness on the pitch, the way we press, the way we keep the ball.”
“I’m very happy with the performance of the team, very happy with the win and we keep it going.”
Asked how Le Tissier is as a captain, a smiling Miyazawa responded, “Aye Aye captain, I love Maya.”
United are back in action on Sunday when they face Tottenham Hotspur.
