FLW's Sheffield Wednesday fan pundit has been discussing the latest update on Danny Rohl's Owls future, and his potential next steps.
This article is part of Football League World's 'Terrace Talk' series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more...
Danny Rohl's Sheffield Wednesday future looks set to finally be decided imminently, and he could well have one eye on a newly opened Championship vacancy.
The Owls boss is understood to be in discussions with the club that would see his tenureship at Hillsborough Stadium finally come to an end this summer.
Rohl has seen a number of doors closed on him in recent weeks, with Middlesbrough opting for Rob Edwards, whilst Werder Bremen have also gone in a different direction too - both clubs of which he was in the running to take over at.
However, across the Championship, another vacancy has just opened, as Ruud van Nistelrooy has finally parted ways with Leicester City.
We asked our Sheffield Wednesday fan pundit, Patrick McKenna: 'Sheffield Wednesday are finally in talks to part ways with Danny Rohl. Do you think this is best for all parties? Relieved that this particular 'will he/won't he?' saga looks to be finally coming to an end? Do you reckon he'll end up at Leicester now that Van Nistelrooy has left or not?'
"Although they are a team with a better squad and parachute payments, they're not run stably at the moment either. So, I don't think Danny Rohl would have any great desire to go to another club with potential boardroom issues.
"I think that his choice would be a job in Germany, which I think certainly would be achievable for him. So yes, my feeling is that Danny Rohl's next club will be a German one.
"Which does mean that he can stay in Germany with his young family."
Leicester City are certainly a club in an uncommon situation following their relegation from the Premier League.
Given the talent that is in their squad and their rich recent history of top flight football, the Foxes will undoubtedly be aiming for promotion back in the Championship next season.
However, their current financial problems are very serious indeed, with their Thai owners facing a collapse of their business.
The Foxes are also facing a potential points deduction, after being charged with breaking Profit & Sustainability in relation to their 2023/24 finances.
As such, the King Power Stadium is not a particularly happy nor stable place to be for a new manager to walk into at this moment in time, and given what Rohl has endured during his time at Sheffield Wednesday, he'll surely want as little drama as possible wherever he goes next.
The 36-year-old has previously admitted that he wants to return to the Bundesliga "as soon as possible", however he may be forced to wait for an opportunity in his homeland.
That's because there are currently no Bundesliga clubs looking for a new manager, meaning Rohl could be forced to wait until a few months into the 2025/26 season until perhaps one or two managers are axed before being able to take a job in Germany's top flight.
