Sheffield United have signed Everton duo Issy Hobson and Ellie Jones on loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.

Hobson is a promising defender who last season became the youngest goal scorer in WSL history, while Jones is a versatile youngster who can play midfield or further forward and made her senior debut for the Toffees this season.

Jones came off the bench in the League Cup tie against Manchester United, before starting and playing 90 minutes in the Merseyside derby.

Hobson made her first WSL start against Arsenal aged 16, scoring a dramatic last-minute equaliser to enter the record books, before going on to earn her first call-up for England’s U-19s towards the end of 2024.

Hobson said: “I’m just really grateful for the opportunity to come here, get some minutes and hopefully contribute towards the team in the second half of the season.”

Jones added: “I’m very happy to be here. I’m glad to be able to keep playing and keep improving. Me and Issy are very close, we’ve come together and can help each other through this new experience.”

Head coach Ash Thompson commented: “We’re bringing two really talented young players to the club who have had already had experience of the top level, and we thank Everton and Brian Sorensen for trusting us with two of their players for the rest of the campaign.”

“We’ve got a rich history of working with and developing young players, but both Issy and Ellie also fill key areas of the squad we were looking to recruit in this month and we’re looking forward to working with both for the remainder of the season.”
