The Posh pair are both reportedly linked with a summer move to Bramall Lane

Sheffield United are said to be keen on a double swoop for Peterborough United pair Harrison Burrows and Ricky-Jade Jones, according to Guardian Sport reporter Will Unwin.

Local reports in Peterborough have already reported that Burrows has passed a medical with the Blades ahead of a summer transfer, with a fee already being agreed between the two parties.

The Posh captain is out of contract next summer, as is teammate Jones, who signed a four-year deal with the club in 2021 after emerging through the academy at London Road.

The forward is also said to have been attracting interest from Premier League side Newcastle United earlier in the year, with a £2 million transfer fee being mooted.

Both players have excelled during their time at Posh, with the pair playing in all but a handful of their side’s matches in the previous campaign, in which they missed out on promotion to the Championship via the playoffs.

Burrows’ performances on the left side of defence have caught the eye ever since he made his debut for the club back in 2019, with United fielding off transfer interest in their defender many times in the past.

Director of Football Barry Fry confirmed in 2022 that the club had rejected a deal from a Premier League side which would have risen to £5 million with add-ons for their academy star, as they looked to keep hold of their top talent.

But two years on, it looks as if the 22-year-old is set for a switch to the Championship with the recently-relegated United side, who are looking to rebuild a fish squad ahead of their latest assault on the second tier.

Jones has also been a player catching plenty of interest after another promising campaign in the third tier, with his lively performances seeing him contribute towards 13 goals for Peterborough en route to their fourth-placed finish last season.

A number of top clubs were said to be monitoring the forward recently, with Newcastle just one of a number said to have been watching on as the Posh secured a 2-1 victory over Wycombe Wanderers in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy final in April.

As ever with the young talent that Peterborough produce, they will drive a hard bargain for any side that tries to prise them away from London Road, and the Blades will have to delve into their pockets if they are to make the double switch happen this summer.

Sheffield United takeover could be stalling Harrison Burrows, Ricky-Jade Jones transfers

Everyone at Bramall Lane has been waiting patiently for any potential takeover of the club to happen in recent weeks, with transfer activity coming to a halt as the uncertainty surrounding the club continues.

The Steel City outfit are currently enduring a takeover of the club at this moment in time, with current owner Prince Abdullah potentially selling the club to a California-based consortium.

As a result, Chris Wilder [pictured] has stated that transfer activity will be limited until any deal has taken place, which could be the reason why Burrows’ deal hasn’t been completed, despite reports of the deal being all-but complete.

The Blades will be looking to rebuild this summer after a number of key players have departed the club, with the likes of Chris Basham, Oli Norwood and Wes Foderingham moving on, as well as Max Lowe and George Baldock.
