Liverpool have been in strong form this season but had the weekend off, so they’ll head into their first-leg match against Paris Saint-Germain at Parc des Princes either well-rested or potentially a bit rusty.
Before focusing on the Champions League, Liverpool played their final Premier League match of the week, defeating Newcastle United 2-0 at Anfield on Wednesday. They’ll look to carry that momentum into Paris.
PSG, meanwhile, also had an impressive performance, beating LOSC Lille 4-1, with all four goals coming in the first half. While Liverpool are favorites in this tie, one ESPN pundit believes the Ligue 1 side will take care of business at home in the first leg.

On Monday’s ESPN FC, the program was previewing the first leg and Shaka Hislop stated that he sees PSG securing a win at home to take a lead to the second leg at Anfield next week.
“I just feel in the first leg, they get the job done at home,” Hislop said. “But going to Anfield on a European night, this is a different Liverpool. Somehow, they turn that result around. So over the two legs, I think Liverpool gets it done, but only just. And it’s going to take one of their better performances of the season.”
Arne Slot and his team head into this match unbeaten in their last five, with three wins and two draws. On the other hand, Luis Enrique and his squad are on a 10-match winning streak and haven’t lost in 22 games across all competitions.
