According to journalist Alfredo Pedulla, it has been learned that Serie A side Como have officially submitted an offer for Barcelona goalkeeper Inaki Pena.

The reporter mentions that Como manager Cesc Fabregas is reportedly a huge admirer of the 26-year-old and is pushing for the club to secure his services before the transfer window closes.

While Pena has two more offers on the table from other clubs, Como are evaluating their next move carefully.

At present, two key factors are under consideration. First, the significant cost of the transfer and the trust placed in the current No. 1, Maxime Butez.

Even so, Fabregas is said to be convinced that Pena could be the right addition to strengthen the squad.

Fabregas’ Spanish influence could help

Como’s interest in Pena surfaced last week, with the club reportedly using the Joan Gamper Trophy clash against Barcelona as an opportunity to advance talks.

Having several Spanish players already in the team, and with Fabregas at the helm, Como believe Pena could adapt quickly to life in Italy.

For his part, Pena is open to making the move. His contract at Barcelona runs until 2026, but he wants more regular playing time.

The Blaugrana, acknowledging that they were not entirely fair to him last season, are willing to facilitate his exit as a gesture of appreciation for his professionalism.

Barcelona’s condition for the deal

Despite the openness to a sale, Barcelona will only sanction Pena’s departure if they successfully register Joan Garcia in time.

With current first-choice Marc-Andre ter Stegen injured and Wojciech Szczęsny also unregistered, Garcia’s availability is key before any goalkeeper exits can be approved.

Time is tight, competition is strong, and Como must decide quickly if they want to beat rival suitors to Pena’s signature.
