If Manchester United needed extra motivation to secure Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens, they have just got it.

According to reports relayed on Friday by The Peoples Person, United are finally poised to intensify their interest in the 23-year-old Belgian.

Time to strengthen between the Sticks

With the Bryan Mbeumo transfer saga now resolved and an agreement reached with Brentford, INEOS can turn its attention to other areas, starting with the goalkeeping position.

That department remains a concern. André Onana and Altay Bayındır have failed to convince, with their repeated errors proving costly.

The idea of recruiting a more dependable shot-stopper was floated heading into this summer, and Onana’s recent hamstring injury only strengthens the case for making it a priority.

Lammens is now emerging as the leading candidate.

Belgian goalie speaks on United Links

As links to Old Trafford intensify, Lammens has spoken openly about the potential move.

“The first time I heard, I thought: ‘Wow’,” he said via The Mirror.

“A world-renowned club following you—that’s special. In training, every save became ‘United this, United that’. It’s all positive.

“It’s the best league in the world, and my profile, stature, and style of play fit English football. You’ve got to hold your own physically—and that suits me.”

INEOS have every reason to act

The need for a new goalkeeper is clear. Onana is injured, Antwerp have already signed a replacement in Taishi Brandon, and Lammens himself sounds ready to take the next step.

With a reported fee of £17 million likely enough to clinch the deal, INEOS have every reason to press ahead.

Lammens is keen to test himself at Premier League level, and United could certainly use someone who will push Onana to his limits.
