A clear and controlled victory over Algeria perfectly wraps up the Lionesses' preparations.
Senegal 3-0 Algeria
In Dakar, on Tuesday, July 1, the Senegal women's national team secured a commanding 3-0 win over Algeria in a friendly, a key preparatory clash ahead of the 2025 AFCON. The Lionesses were clinical in this final test before kicking off their 2024 Women's AFCON campaign in Morocco against DR Congo.
Senegal's women's squad left no room for doubt against their Algerian counterparts in this friendly held at the Lat Dior Stadium in Thiès. With just four days remaining before the start of the 2025 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, the Lionesses delivered a reassuring performance. After a balanced first half, Mame Moussa Cissé's players made the difference after the break, netting three times in the second period.
Nguénar Ndiaye broke the deadlock in the 56th minute with a powerful header from an excellent Wolimata Ndiaye cross, following a free-kick she had won herself. The advantage was doubled eleven minutes later (67th), as Hapsatou Malado Diallo also headed home, this time set up perfectly by Haby Baldé. The third goal came courtesy of Ndeye Awa Casset in the 72nd minute, capping off a collective move that began with a Babou corner.
This convincing victory allows Senegal's Lionesses to approach their opening match of the 2024 Women's AFCON — scheduled for Sunday, July 6, against the Democratic Republic of Congo — with confidence. As for Algeria's Greens, their training camp ends on a sour note ahead of their AFCON opener against Botswana.
