Simone Inzaghi can be proud of Inter Milan’s remarkable performance in Monday’s Serie A demolition of fellow Scudetto rivals Lazio.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, the defending champions pulled off a statement win at the Stadio Olimpico.
Lazio and Inter were level on points heading into proceedings.
With Marco Baroni’s side firing on all cylinders before the kick-off, it wasn’t supposed to be a one-sided affair.
However, the Nerazzurri reigned supreme in the capital, boasting six different scorers in a phenomenal 6-0 win.
Denzel Dumfries and Federico Dimarco stole the spotlight.
Indeed, both wingbacks registered a goal and an assist apiece.
Despite running out 2-0 victors in this corresponding fixture last term, Inter haven’t enjoyed recent visits to the Olimpico.
Before a clear-cut triumph last December, they had gone four consecutive away league meetings with Lazio without winning.
Moreover, they lost three times during that sequence.
Therefore, Lazio’s home turf hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for Inzaghi’s troops.
However, they defied tradition yesterday evening to close the gap on table-topping Atalanta to three points.
With a game in hand, Inter are in good shape to challenge La Dea’s Scudetto credentials.
