Celtic are gearing up for this Saturday's Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen at Hampden (KO: 3pm), looking to retain the trophy they won in such dramatic style last season.

And with the League Cup and Premiership trophies already safely ensconced at Celtic Park, the aim is to complete a clean sweep for what would be the club's ninth domestic treble, and the third that Brendan Rodgers has won as Celtic manager.

Ahead of the showpiece occasion at the National Stadium, the Celtic manager, along with Cameron Carter-Vickers, Arne Engels and Paulo Bernardo all spoke to the press, and here's another chance to see and hear what they had to say about the Scottish Cup final.

BRENDAN RODGERS

'We’re very motivated to finish the season well. We set out nearly 11 months ago with the objective to win the three domestic trophies. We’ve won two and we have one more game to do the third one. That, along with our progression in Europe, would end what has been a brilliant season for us.

We know what it feels like to win. We know the work that it takes to win, and to win consistently, and you then prepare and provide different stimuluses to the players to ensure they’re focused and not content. You know that a final’s a final – it’s the last game of our season. We wanted to be there, and we are, and we know we have to then play well to win the trophy.’

cameron carter-vickers

'We know the work is far from done. We still have 90 minutes or possibly 120 minutes to get over the line and get another trophy. But for us, we are fully focused on that game now. All of our energy and thought process is going into that.

'It’s about going into the game, having a clear mind-set and playing the game, not necessarily the occasion. It’s important to always have an understanding, too, that at the end of the day, whatever is on the line, it’s a football match, which we’ve all played in lots of before. So it’s just about sticking to the things that we have done all season.'

ARNE ENGELS

'We’ve worked for it the whole year and it’s a chance to get the treble. For me, it will be an amazing feeling to hopefully get that. You know that if you play for Celtic, you’re hopefully going to win trophies, so that was a reason to come here and compete in every competition and I think we’ve done that really well.

'It’s not something that happens too often in other clubs, but it’s also not as easy as maybe some people are saying. We did amazing during the season in all the games that we played and hopefully we’ll end it really well.'

PAULO BERNARDO

'It’s a big game, and it’s a final so everyone wants to play. Last season’s cup final was really good but that's in the past now. This year is completely different. It’s a different opponent with a different style of play.

'I think we have improved from last season too. So we're different too. I think it will be a great game for us. At the time, I watched last year’s winning goal back a few times. It was a positive moment for me, and a great memory. I hope it can be another great memory this year.'
