Jones joined Charlton in February, with the Addicks in real danger of being dragged into a relegation battle, and finished the season 16th in League One.

The 51-year-old explained at the start of the summer that he enjoys shaping his squad during the transfer window, and he has already made a couple of additions to Charlton's ranks.

The Addicks have agreed a deal to sign Cambridge United goalkeeper Will Mannion on a free transfer, as well as bringing in midfielder Luke Berry after his contract expired at Jones' former club, Luton Town.

Jones spoke to journalist Richard Cawley about the acquisition of Berry, highlighting how important the signing is for the club:

"His last appearance was in the Premier League and his next appearance is going to be for Charlton Athletic, so that's the type of calibre that we want to attract. We've fought off a lot of Championship interest for Luke."

Charlton have announced the signing of Dunfermline Athletic left-back Josh Edwards - several other clubs in the EFL also showed an interest in the 24-year-old after his impressive time with the Pars.

Conor McGrandles has returned to Lincoln City after an unsuccessful stint in SE7 that included two loan spells away from the club.

Let's take a look at a few other players who Jones may decide to move on this summer:

Scott Fraser

Scottish midfielder Scott Fraser joined Charlton from Ipswich Town in January 2022, and has one year left on his contract.

The 29-year-old failed to register a goal or an assist in 16 League One appearances this season, and spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Heart of Midlothian.

The Edinburgh News reported at the end of the season that Fraser and his family hope to move back up north again next season, although he will return to Sparrows Lane for the start of Charlton's pre-season schedule:

"They start back pre-season at the end of June and I'm expected back down there. I assume we'll have more discussions in the future regarding that and regarding here. We will see what comes of them."

Jones will need to decide whether he sees Fraser as a part of his plans for next season, but all the signs suggest that he will leave The Valley this summer and return to Scotland either on loan or permanently.

Harry Isted

Harry Isted arrived at Charlton last summer on a free transfer from Luton, after starring in Barnsley's narrow League One play-off final defeat against Sheffield Wednesday in the final game of his loan spell.

The goalkeeper started all 16 of Jones' games in charge at the back end of the season, although he only kept three clean sheets over the course of the campaign.

The Addicks want to bring in another shot stopper to compete with new signing Mannion for the gloves next term.

That suggests that Jones would be willing to listen to offers for Isted, who has a year left on his deal.

Ashley Maynard-Brewer

Ashley Maynard-Brewer competed with Isted for Charlton's number one spot this season.

The Australian goalkeeper did not feature under Jones after the Welshman arrived at The Valley in February.

The 24-year-old enjoyed a good run of form during the 2022/23 season that earned him a new contract until 2026.

However, with Jones set to bring in another goalkeeper this summer, it would be no surprise to see Maynard-Brewer leave the club.

He still has plenty of time to develop further, so a loan move could be the best option, although if the right offer came in it is unlikely Jones would stand in his way.

Tayo Edun

Tayo Edun was a long-term target of former Charlton manager Dean Holden, who signed him from Blackburn Rovers last summer.

However, Holden was sacked just five games into the season.

The left-back made 26 League One appearances this season, but only played five times under Jones.

Charlton already have Thierry Small contracted for next season, and with Edwards poised to arrive from Dunfermline, Edun's minutes could be limited next season.

Jones experimented with Edun in midfield in Charlton's final home game of the season against Shrewsbury Town, but he was withdrawn at half-time and dropped from the squad for the final day defeat at Wycombe Wanderers.

With a year left on his contract, Jones would likely be willing to let the defender leave if the right offer came in.
