Manchester United have accelerated their attempts to offload fringe players.
United spent over a month negotiating with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo before reaching an agreement over a £71 million deal. Considering the club’s financial predicament, the focus is now seemingly on sales.
On Saturday afternoon, United struck an agreement with Barcelona to send Marcus Rashford out on a season-long loan. The Blaugrana have agreed to cover the player’s full salary until the end of the season.
Now, a report in Italy suggests United are close to finalising another transfer.
According to Sportmediaset, Sancho has reached a “full agreement” with Juventus.
It is claimed that the Englishman’s agent, Emeka Obasi, was in Turin this week, where he held meetings with Juve.
The visit reportedly led to the two parties finding an agreement over the winger’s contract terms. He will sign a four-year deal worth €6m-a-year plus bonuses.
The Old Lady are also nearing an agreement with United. It is understood that their initial offer for Sancho’s services was €17m. However, now the Serie A giants intend to meet United’s demands of around €25m, including add-ons.
Juventus will also take on “a portion of the severance pay the English club will pay the player, who—in order to move to Turin—has halved his salary.”
The Bianconeri expect to “close the deal” before next Thursday, and his debut could take place on August 10 against Borussia Dortmund, the club where he thrived before moving to Old Trafford in a deal worth £73m.
United are also willing to part ways with Rasmus Hojlund, who endured a frustrating campaign under Ruben Amorim.
However, the Denmark international is still highly rated in Italy because of his exploits at Atalanta.
Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Hojlund’s name came up during conversations over Sancho’s transfer to Turin.
