Arrigo Sacchi says Milan should ‘forget about the title’, especially after a 0-0 draw against Juventus, in which the Rossoneri were so slow and sloppy that even Franco Baresi could ‘make a good impression.’

Sacchi strongly criticised Milan in his latest column for La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Rossoneri are preparing for a Champions League game against Slavia Bratislava, which they’ll face on Tuesday, after a disappointing 0-0 draw against Juventus in Serie A.

Milan produced just one shot on target at San Siro on Saturday, and the home crowd booed the players after the final whistle.

Sacchi was just as disappointed.

“I was at San Siro to watch two teams that have yet to fulfil their potential in Serie A and the Champions League,” he wrote.

“I witnessed the greyest game ever, not even a spark. However, if the many absentees could justify the Bianconeri’s performance, Milan truly let me down.”

“The fans’ whistles, entirely justified by the poor display, were a shock—the only one on a negative evening,” continued Sacchi.

“I was sitting close to Franco Baresi and Daniele Massaro, and while witnessing the slow intensity of the game, I told them, ‘If they continue like this, you guys could play as well. Surely you’d make a good impression.'”

Despite criticism from fans and media, Sacchi feels that coach Fonseca is not the only one responsible for Milan’s inconsistent results and performances.

“It’s easy to blame the coach. Honestly, it would be unfair to criticise a colleague,” said the ex-Rossoneri boss.

“Milan are struggling now, but the question that must be asked is: Did he choose all the players? If he did, he’s accountable, but if the club gave him the players, they must share the responsibility.

“Milan have had too many highs and lows. There isn’t collective play, and there’s no team intended as a group.”

Sacchi also criticised Leao, reiterating that the Portuguese is not a leading figure in the dressing room and even on the pitch.

“Do people realise that he’s not a leader because of his character? In some games, he’s a good player. In others, you won’t even notice him,” Sacchi argued.

“It’s like going fishing, and you never know whether you’ll return with a full or empty basket.

“I think the Rossoneri can forget about the Scudetto. There are too many teams ahead of them and, mostly, all these teams go quick and have a clear identity,” Sacchi concluded.
