Ryan Gravenberch admitted his strike against Union Saint-Gilloise was the 'easiest' of his career as he opened his Liverpool account on Thursday night.

The 21-year-old was faced with a simple tap-in when Trent Alexander-Arnold's effort from range was spilled by goalkeeper Anthony Moris, shortly before half time.

The goal was the first of the night and the first of Gravenberch's Liverpool career, with the Dutchman, who arrived in a £34m move from Bayern Munich this summer, registering two assists previously.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, he revealed his happiness at breaking his Liverpool duck.

"Yeah, it's great, it feels super-good," he said. "It was the easiest goal of my career so far! It doesn't matter – a goal is a goal."

The midfielder has seemingly settled into life well on Merseyside, after a difficult year in Munich where he struggled for game time.

Asked about what has changed since his move to Anfield, he replied: "I think the minutes, just the minutes. When you give a player minutes, you get confidence and I think that's it.

"They are [a] really nice, really good group, also [with] young players. I'm just enjoying it."

Gravenberch received a standing ovation as he was substituted for Dominik Szoboszlai with little over ten minutes left to play.

The young midfielder added that the reaction from the Anfield crowd left an impression on him.

As what it meant to him, he said: "A lot, a lot. I was very happy that they give me such a good feeling and I want to give them something back."

With Curtis Jones suspended, Gravenberch's performance may well earn him a first start in the Premier League game this weekend, when the Reds travel to Brighton.
