The Municipality of Rome has obtained a new victory at the Council of State, putting an end to part of the complex judicial affair linked to the Pietralata area.

The judges of Palazzo Spada rejected the appeal presented by two residents against the eviction order issued by the Campidoglio to free up the land necessary for the construction of Roma’s new stadium, writes Il Messaggero.

The controversy began at the beginning of the year, when the Municipality authorized access to the technicians responsible for carrying out geological surveys and archaeological excavations.

The residents had appealed to the civil court to block access, initially obtaining a suspension.

Subsequently, the Municipality issued an eviction order, which was also contested.

However, the judges had clarified that the areas in question were intended for a public service and, despite the unauthorized occupation by private individuals, the stadium project could not be hindered.

With the final rejection of the appeal, the Campidoglio has recovered the areas and the technicians of Roma will be able to proceed with the geological core samples and the archaeological trenches – two essential steps to complete the preliminary study and draw up the definitive project of the stadium.

The next judicial stages are set for 12 and 20 September, when the civil court will discuss the protection of possession of the areas claimed by the residents.
