Despite a new round of rumors about other coaches, it was business as usual for Ivan Juric and Roma on Monday. The under-fire coach has led the practice and started preparing for Thursday’s Europa League contest versus Union St. Gilloise.
At this point, it might be too late for the Giallorossi to make the call before the next match or this week altogether, Sky informs (via Goal). They’ll fly to Belgium on Wednesday. They would have probably made the announcement already if they wished to go in that direction.
The Roma owners continue to examine the situation and haven’t communicated anything to Juric directly. They’ll face Bologna in the final game before the break on Sunday. The Giallorossi need to make up some ground in the Europa League as well having lost in the first rounds.
In the meantime, Zibì Boniek, who worked with the Polish federation in the past and has ties with Paulo Sousa, has called ‘nonsense’ the buzz linking the former Salernitana manager to the capital club.
The sacking would have already happened if they wanted to, as early on Monday is standard for that. Waiting until the international break was always a likely scenario with a few matches in rapid succession. Rather than hoping for a turnaround, which would be stunning given how things are going, they might be in talks with a fairly big name and perhaps an exec too in a packaged deal, which they desperately need. The silence from their officials on the matter is deafening and telling.
