AS Roma are open to selling Tammy Abraham this summer amid reports of interest from Premier League side Aston Villa, according to Calciomercato.

Abraham moved to Rome from Chelsea in 2021, having failed to assert himself under former manager Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge.

However, he hit the ground running at the Stadio Olimpico, establishing himself as one of the hottest strikers around after scoring 27 times in 53 appearances for Jose Mourinho’s side.

Following a stellar first season in the Italian top flight, Abraham’s output has seen a significant reduction, with the striker posting just six goals and four assists in 27 Serie A appearances this term.

The 25-year-old has slowly lost his starting berth to Andrea Belotti, who is yet to open his Serie A account despite featuring 22 times since joining from Torino last summer.

Mourinho reportedly no longer trusts Abraham to lead the line, and a summer move could be on the cards with the player eyeing a Premier League return.

Villa side are keen on the striker who netted 26 times in 40 appearances during a one-year loan spell with the club.

Roma are willing to sell but will likely demand around €45 million for the England international as they look to recoup some of their investment in the player.

Chelsea have an €80m buy-back option in Abraham’s contract but are unlikely to trigger the clause despite their search for a striker.

The Blues have identified Napoli marksman Victor Osimhen as a summer target but will face a fight for his signature with Manchester United, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain also interested in the Nigerian.

With Mourinho looking to strengthen his attacking ranks this summer, it is unlikely that Abraham will remain at the club beyond the end of the season.

Roma are also eyeing a move for soon-to-be free agents Roberto Firmino and Wilfried Zaha from Premier League clubs Liverpool and Crystal Palace.

The latter is also attracting interest from Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad.
