Gian Piero Gasperini made it clear that Roma need new attackers to be ambitious, but they have run into some hurdles in the pursuit of their most recent targets, Claudio Echeverri and Fabio Silva.
According to Sky, they are struggling to come to terms with Manchester City, which wish to send him to Girona instead and don’t want to lose control over him. The Giallorossi can accept an initial loan but aim to obtain a reasonable option to buy. The player is keen on the destination, but they’ll have to find a way to convince the Premier League giants.
Echeverri and Fabio Silva aren’t mutually exclusive, as they have different traits. However, Wolverhampton repelled the first approach by Roma too, which tried to get the latter with a temporary formula. The counterparty is open to parting ways with him but are shooting for a permanent transfer.
The capital club has lodged an inquiry for versatile Lecce winger Santiago Pierotti. He has registered 4 goals and 4 assists in 47 Serie A matches, coming on strong in the second half of last season.
Per Corriere dello Sport, the Giallorossi are willing to insert a buyback clause in the deal with Manchester City. Another alternative on their shortlist is RB Salzburg’s Dorgeles Nene, who shone in the Austrian Bundesliga in 2024/2025, scoring 13 goals and providing 8 assists in 30 games.
They are fine numerically up front, but adding a true speedster would significantly raise their level of dangerousness and make their attack more similar to Atalanta’s successful configuration. The right name probably hasn’t emerged yet, and it appears that they don’t have a substantial budget for it.
