It’s almost been six months since Robin Pröpper made the move from FC Twente to Rangers, and the defender has experienced plenty of ups and downs. The Light Blues have failed to put pressure on rivals Celtic, but did register a remarkable victory over the league leaders last week, with Robin Pröpper netting his first goal for the club in the 3-0 win.
Speaking to De Telegraaf after the match, the Dutchman revealed he has no regrets in making the move to Scotland. ‘The experience in the stadium is so gigantically beautiful at the Old Firm. It’s really unique to experience,’ Robin Pröpper said. ‘I also thought it was special to experience at the final of the League Cup at Hampden Park, because it was fifty-fifty in the stadium in terms of blue and green. There are no away supporters at the league matches.’
‘The way of playing football is really very different,’ the defender continued. ‘Much more physical, much more direct. Football really has a different dynamic here. You have to adapt to that. That’s getting better and better. I didn’t play everything, but I didn’t expect that either, because we play about sixty games a season here. It’s just not possible to play everything.’
‘It’s a great adventure to experience. The passion with which football is experienced is so enormous. This was exactly what I was looking for. A different environment and playing for a top club. I also enjoy life in Scotland. The other day we had an away game against Ross County. The four-hour bus trip, all the way to the North was already great and then you play in a small stadium overlooking the mountains with a great ambiance. That’s really football romance.’
