Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski has moved to within a couple of goals of triggering a fresh clause in his contract with the club.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have revealed that, in the case of Lewandowski adding to his tally just twice more over the final weeks of the campaign, his club will be forced to pay up.

The Pole, of course, is fresh off a night to remember on Monday, which saw him notch a hat-trick to guide Barcelona past La Liga rivals Valencia.

This took his tally for what has proven a largely hit-and-miss campaign to a none-too-shabby 23 goals.

Should the veteran frontman go on to reach 25, though, Barca will be dealt something of a financial blow.

This comes amid confirmation that the deal struck between the Blaugrana and Bayern Munich back in the summer of 2022 featured a clause, surrounding 25-goal seasons for Lewandowski.

For each year in which the 35-year-old manages to reach the quarter-century mark in front of goal, the board at the Camp Nou are forced to cough up €1.25 million to their counterparts in Munich.

As much was already forked out following Lewandowski’s debut campaign in Spain, with Barca inching ever closer to the same fate this summer, too.
