Robby McCrorie ‘to leave’ Rangers as Kelly completes Ibrox move | OneFootball

Robbie McCrorie’s Rangers future is now in significant doubt after Rangers announced the signing of ex-Motherwell goalkeeper Liam Kelly, with the move on the stopper complete.

With the former Ibrox goalie now returning to sit on Rangers’ bench, there will be no room for McCrorie who will now require to find a new club, clear in the knowledge that Kelly is to be the new number two behind established number one Jack Butland.

Of course, Kelly could be there to be third choice, but we suspect the chances of him joining Rangers to ‘make up the numbers’ are next-to-zero – especially given he is on record as having no intention of that, ditto his own ex-managers.

Rangers manager Philippe Clement has had no interest in McCrorie from the start, giving him just one appearance (Dumbarton in the cup) all last season, and the Auchenhowie graduate knows clearly that he has no chance of any minutes under this manager.

Especially with the boss signing Kelly as deputy behind Butland.

It’s clear Clement (and Nils Koppen) want to put a major stamp on the squad, and McCrorie is arguably another victim of a Rangers regime with history of making bad decisions and being disloyal.

Is this the same? In truth, the signing of Kelly is likely for replacing McCrorie who has reportedly informed the club he wants the move away, with Aberdeen and one or two other SPL clubs interested, so we’re not sure that it’s an addition specifically for undermining McCrorie.

But it all means the same thing – Kelly will be new number two, and McCrorie needs a new club.
