FC Barcelona may not be fully ready to make some signings just yet, but they are preparing to do so. The Catalan club has an idea of the kind of profiles they need, but they need time to bring such profiles in. However, there is still some level of discussion about which players are best for Barcelona.

Some reports continue to claim it could be Dani Olmo or even Luis Diaz, while others claim that Nico Williams is the priority target for Barcelona. The latter has been linked to the Catalan club for quite some time now, and he seems to check the boxes that Barcelona need on their left wing.

Now, as SPORT has highlighted, even a former player at Barcelona and former Brazilian icon, Rivaldo, also seems to think that Nico Williams may just be the right man for Barcelona to pursue:

“He would be a great signing. Barça should pay attention to him during this Euro and, depending on his performance, maybe later face more competition to sign him. But he would be a great option.”

However, it is not just Nico Williams who Rivaldo has an opinion on. Beyond just the possible targeting of the Athletic Club forward, he also thinks that Barcelona have a true wondrous pearl in their hands with the likes of Lamine Yamal, the 16-year-old Barcelona sensation who is taking all the spotlight at the Euros:

“I can only congratulate him. That way of playing, that personality… It’s incredible! It’s very difficult to find a player with that character who plays with such joy in football today. And he does everything with great calmness, as if he had a lot of experience. He has a great future and will bring much joy to Barça and the national team fans.”

Lastly, he also shared some of his reservations when it comes to Robert Lewandowski. While he compliments and still rates the Barcelona ace extremely highly, he has some worries about his age and why it may be time for Barcelona to look for new alternatives as well:

“Barcelona must start thinking about a replacement. A team like this needs to have the best players in the world. And that means also keeping an eye on the best players on the market in all positions, including the center-forward.”

“Lewandowski is a world-class player, but we know that age and injuries can take their toll… I hope Lewandowski can rest now and recover to be at his best for Barça’s preseason.”

“He can still have good years of football. Let’s remember that he has even been named the best player in the world and has a beautiful football history behind him. I just hope age doesn’t catch up with him.”
