Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has opened up on a recent conversation with Thibaut Courtois regarding Senne Lammens. The Real Madrid and Belgian national team goalkeeper is widely regarded as one of the finest in his position in the world.

Lammens, meanwhile, completed a move to Old Trafford on transfer deadline day after an impressive run with Royal Antwerp. The 23 year old registered 10 clean sheets from 44 games last season for the Belgian side.

With Andre Onana’s struggles showing no signs of receding, and Altay Bayindir faring no better, the Premier League giants have opted to put their trust on Lammens.

Interestingly, the Belgian ace may have to wait until the end of this month to make his debut for the Red Devils.

Lammens receives praise from Courtois.

Nicknamed “Baby Courtois”, Lammens is expected to eventually succeed the 33 year old in the national team. In a video shared on social media, Rio Ferdinand has outlined the former Chelsea goalkeeper’s thoughts on his countryman.

According to the Englishman, Courtois believes Lammens will not look out of place in the Premier League.

“Thibaut Courtois has given me the heads up on what he’s like. He said he’s a huge talent, obviously not experienced yet, but he thinks his style is well-suited to the Premier League. He’s big as well,” said Ferdinand.

“That recommendation from probably one of the best three goalkeepers in the world, Thibaut Courtois, I’ll take that.”

Courtois spent four season with the Blues’ first team before moving to the Santiago Bernabeu in 2018.

United have to be patient with Lammens

Courtois’ words only confirm Lammens’ rising stock in world football. However, Ferdinand proceeded to question if the player will be afforded time at United.

“I keep seeing people talk about the talent, but the problem is, can Manchester United wait for talent to develop?” said Ferdinand.

United let in 54 goals from 38 games in the Premier League last season. Among the top 15, only Brighton & Hove Albion (59), Brentford (57), and West Ham United (62) have conceded more.
